What is SilverSky Protect?

SilverSky Protect, a - pet insurance underwritten by MSIG Insurance (Singapore) Pte Ltd, is designed exclusively for Silversky’s clients and distributed by Stere Singapore Insurance Agency Pte. Ltd. - It helps pet owners manage expensive veterinary - bills for hospitalisation, surgery and post-surgery treatments. There is also the optional non-surgical cover which reimburses outpatient medical expenses incurred for non-surgical treatment -such as broken bones, bite wounds, and toxic ingestions.

Does my pet need a vet examination to apply for SilverSky Protect?

No, a pet health examination is not required to apply for the insurance.

What is the optional non-surgical cover, and how does it differ from the base cover?

The non-surgical cover add-on reimburses outpatient medical expenses incurred for non-surgical treatment - such as broken bones, bite wounds, and toxic ingestions. The base cover provides cover for hospitalisation, surgery, and post-surgery treatments​.

Are consultations covered?

Pre-surgery consultation and diagnostic tests expenses up to 30 days before the surgery are covered. Coverage is limited to vet consultation fees, diagnostic tests such as laboratory, X-ray or other medically necessary diagnostic procedures, provided it is prescribed by the same vet who will be performing the surgery.

Can I claim if my pet is hospitalised?

Yes, if hospitalisation is required for your pet but not surgery, simply add the optional non-surgical cover for Hospital expenses. This includes hospital accommodation, professional fees and medical services.We will reimburse hospital expenses incurred at a pet hospital for treatment of illnesses and the list of covered injuries up to the sum insured provided it is medically necessary and prescribed by the vet. Hospital expenses include:hospital accommodation including meal charges, nursing care, diagnostic, laboratory or other medically necessary facilities and services;professional fees and medical services rendered by a vet, such as examination and consultation; anddrugs, dressings or medications prescribed by the treating vet during hospitalisation.Covered injuriesThe list of covered injuries for the purpose of this section is as follows:broken bones;bite wounds;cuts;Co-payment applies to the non-surgical cover section.

What are some key exclusions?

What is Complementary Therapy Benefit?

Complementary therapy refers to services provided by licensed establishments such as acupuncture, chiropractic treatment, laser treatment, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy services prescribed for the rehabilitative treatment of the same injury or illness for which the surgery was performed.We will reimburse for the cost of complementary therapies incurred after surgery, provided they are prescribed by the attending vet. 
The attending vet refers to the vet who has diagnosed and performed surgery on your pet. Deductible and co-payment apply to this benefit.

What is Third Party Legal Liability cover?

We will reimburse you against legal liability caused by your pet, resulting from:death or injury of any person; orloss of or damage to property belonging to others.We will also pay for the cost and expenses of litigation recovered by any claimant from you, and cost and expenses incurred by you with our written consent.This section is limited to a territorial scope of cover within Singapore.

Am I covered if my pet passes away?

We will reimburse you for the expenses incurred for the burial or cremation of your pet, in the event it passes away during the period of insurance.This section will also reimburse the cost of euthanasia, provided it is prescribed by the vet to relieve inhumane suffering.

Do I get a discount if no claim arises during the period of insurance?

Yes, a no claim discount (“NCD”) is applicable if no claim arising from your pet during the period of insurance immediately preceding the renewal of this policy, the renewal premium for your pet shall be reduced as follows:Period of insuranceDiscountThe preceding year5%The preceding two consecutive years10%The preceding three consecutive years or more15%In the event of a claim, the NCD shall be reduced to zero at the next renewal of the policy.

How does deductible and co-payment work?

Deductible is applied first on eligible expenses related to each hospitalisation and surgery performed. Co-payment is then applied on the remaining eligible expenses.The policyholder is responsible for paying the deductible, co-payment amount, and any ineligible expenses.If the deductible amount has been met for an event of hospitalisation and surgery, the sections which require deductible and co-payment for the same injury or illness (which surgery was performed) will only require policyholder to pay co-payment.

Application and Eligibility

Is my pet eligible for Silversky Protect?

Your pet must:be aged between 16 weeks to nine years at the commencement date of this policy.be for personal companionship and pleasure and not be a working pet (e.g., racing, breeding, law enforcement)be micro-chipped;have completed all required vaccinations;be licensed to you; andbe residing with you or your family in Singapore.
You must be:18 years or older; andthe registered owner of the pet.

If I only purchased the hospitalization plan, can I add on the optional non-surgical cover at any time?

No, optional cover can only be added at renewal. If you wish to include it, we will need to cancel your current policy and issue a new one with the additional cover. A pro-rata refund will apply, provided there are no claims. The new policy will be based on your pet’s current profile, including age and pre-existing conditions.You may cancel an optional cover anytime during the policy period if needed.

Is there a free-look period?

Yes, a 14-business-day free-look period is provided for first-time policy purchases. You can cancel the policy within this period for a full refund, provided no claims have been made​.

How do I pay for SilverSky Protect?

Premium can be paid on a monthly basis or on an annual basis.For monthly payment: The first monthly premium is payable on the commencement date and subsequent monthly premiums are due on the same date on each succeeding month.For annual payment: The first annual premium is payable on the commencement date and subsequent premiums are due on the same date on each succeeding year.

Will my premiums increase for subsequent renewals?

Yes, premiums will increase as your pet ages. Additionally, if there were claims in the preceding year, a premium loading may be applied at renewal.

Premium Payment and Recurring Billing

When is the premium deducted?

The premium is deducted on the 20th of every month, and it is always billed one month in advance.

What payment frequency options are available for premiums?

You may select to have your premiums paid on either a monthly basis or an annual basis.

How does the monthly premium payment work?

The first monthly premium is payable on the date of enrolment.Subsequent monthly premiums are due on the same date each succeeding month.The premium will be charged in advance to your nominated card account based on our card billing cycle.

How does the annual premium payment work?

The first annual premium is payable on the commencement date.Subsequent premiums are due on the same date each succeeding year.The premium will be charged in advance to your nominated card account based on our card billing cycle.

How does recurring card billing work?

We will use the card information provided by you (“Your Nominated Card Account”) to charge your first premium. We will also automatically charge subsequent premiums to your nominated card account unless you inform us otherwise.

How does the card billing cycle work?

Our card billing cycle date falls on the 20th of every month.For new applications, you may see one-month or two-months premium deduction reflected in your card statement, depending on your policy enrolment date and your card cycle.

Claims

How do I make a Claim?

Download the claim form (hyperlink) and fill it out.Email the completed form and supporting documents to medicalclaims@inovacare.com.Include your personal particulars, contact details, policy number, a brief description of the claim, and details of other persons or witnesses involved, if applicable.

Can I claim for emergency pet transport?

Yes, we will reimburse transport expenses incurred in bringing your pet to the vet for emergency medical treatment due to injury or illness suffered during the period of insurance, to avoid death or impairment to your pet’s health.When submitting a claim to us, you must submit the invoice from the vet together with your transport receipt.

Can I file a pre-surgery consultation claim by an online vet?

No, pre-surgery consultations and diagnostic tests are normally done with the pet physically present at a vet clinic for proper examination results. As such, we will not accept pre-surgery consultation done online.

Cancellation and Refunds

Can I cancel the policy at any time upon purchase?

If we are issuing this policy to you for the first time, we will give you a “Free Look” period of 14 business days from the date you receive the policy. If within these 14 days, we will cancel it from its start date and refund in full the premium you have paid so long as no claim has arisen.After the Free Look period, you may cancel your policy at any time by giving 14 days’ written notice to us.Please refer to the policy wordings for the full cancellation terms.

Can I cancel the optional non-surgical cover and keep only the main policy covering the core benefits such as hospitalisation and surgery?

Yes, you can cancel the policy at any time with 14 days' written notice. If no claims have been made, a pro-rated refund for the unused period of insurance may be provided for annual payments. For monthly payments, the cover will continue till the monthly premium has been utilised and we will not provide premium refunds. If you cancel your policy after having made a claim, no premium refunds are payable and the remaining premium for that period of insurance must be paid if it has not already been paid.
